April Fools!
Once again Aimee plays a gag on Rianne on April 1st!
And it's true, behind the serious and caring side of doctors lies a joker. Or at least someone who loves (and quite often really needs) laughter. There's a dark side to the medical practice that I purposely shy away from in this comic strip series. At the very least, being in the funny pages (Plug! Buy the Manila Bulletin!), it would be counterproductive for Callous to go down that road. I guess I sometimes touch that stuff in my writing, though I do so very carefully.
Personally, the comic has given me further reason to seek out the lighter side of life and medicine. Primarily to write comic strips, admittedly, but as a consequence I find myself with a brighter perception on living.
And with that, I would like to take this opportunity to announce that I shall take the lessons learned from producing this comic and retire the series. It's time to actually live instead of just writing and drawing about life. It has been a wonderful 17 years!
Yeah, that last bit was an April Fools joke. Not a great one but, meh, traditions traditions...
Besides, I'm having too much fun with the comic to give it up! To me, this is part of the joy of being alive! ;)
